WOW, What a night! Well done to everyone involved in making our Lion King production so successful. Everyone was amazing and there was a real magical feeling in the air last night. Have a look at the pictures below and keep an eye out to see if our review makes it into Timeout magazine Dubai!
Truly an incredible night and one that will be remembered for a long time, great work! You all made Mrs. Elmes and I very proud.
The first thing we need to learn before we start any problem solving is the problem solving chant, it goes like this:
Identify the problem so you all understand, Then you listen to each other, coz you've got to make a plan, Then you do, you do it, you do it, do it, do it, Then you check.
Have a look at us saying it before we solve today's problem . . .
Here is the video that many parents have requested to see again. It is of Mr. McCafferty teaching using the Wii as a stimulus. If you have any questions about what we are doing in Year 4 at the moment please ask in the comments section.
Year 4 have been trying out new multi-sensory spelling strategies. We have been writing in rainbow colours, making patch-work quilts, writing on windows, using floating letters in water, writing in sand trays, the list could go on and on . . . Why not try some of them at home?
Last week we were learning about what a food chain is. We have been looking at various species of animals from land and under the sea to find about what they eat. Have a look at the food chains we made:
Back at the start of term, all three year 4 classes took part in their first problem solving task: The Invisible Maze! The children need to work together to try and work out the route for the maze. These are the rules:
Only one person is allowed in the maze at a time.
You can only step into the squares directly beside the one you are in.
If you make a wrong move you will hear a noise, but will not be told what was wrong.
If you make a correct move you will hear nothing.
The teacher will not speak at all during the task.
This will be the new blog for GEMS Wellington Primary School's Year 4 classes. We will be posting information for parents, links to exciting websites for you to use @ home and all the fun things we are going to be doing in class.
Year 4 has three classes this year; 4A with Mr McCafferty, 4B with Mrs Khan and 4C with Miss Matheson. We can't wait to get started on Sunday and begin our Endless Ocean topic where the learning will be . . . Endless :)
